A couple getting married

A wedding is an exciting time, both for the couple getting married and for our churches.

If you live in the parish of one of our three churches (St Mary’s, Standon, All Saints’, Little Munden and St Catherine’s, Sacombe) and you have not previously been married, you are fully entitled to be married there. If you live outside the parish you would need to have a certain connection with the church, such as you were baptised in the parish, you or your parents (in your lifetime) lived in the parish or habitually worshipped in the parish for at least 6 months or your parents or grandparents were married in the parish. If one of you has been married before, it may be possible in certain circumstances for us to offer a wedding service after seeking permission from the Bishop. The important thing is to speak to the Rector at the earliest possible date.

Every year we hold a benefice wedding evening, when there is the chance to speak to the Rector, the director of music and the administrator, to organise things such as the Order of Service, the music for the service and any paperwork that needs finalising. We also hold a Marriage Preparation Course over a weekend, which all wedding couples are asked to attend.

If you are interested in getting married in any of our benefice churches, please contact our Benefice Administrator [email protected] for more details.
